Sometimes

October 27th, 2010 § 15 Comments

Sometimes, I like to slip off the radar. Go unseen. Duck out for a little bit, which inevitably means coming back to this:

Sometimes, I like to just pretend I didn’t just see things like that.

It’s kind of like eating candy for breakfast. You know you shouldn’t, but it just feels so good.

Sometimes, I just need to pour myself into the things I love doing.

Sometimes, I have to remember how good it feels to do and give.

And sometimes, I’ve just gotta laugh. I recommend starting with The Office Season 1 and working your way up from there.

Sometimes, it’s all about taking in the beauty of a simple pleasure in life.

Because, let’s face it, sometimes life doesn’t look like it’s going to give you much to work with.

And sometimes, it spells it right out for you.

No matter which side of the coin your day lands on, I hope you’re doing well. I hope you’re doing something for you. I hope you’re remembering that sometimes, life is scary. Sometimes, life changes. Sometimes, you make the right decisions and sometimes, you don’t. Sometimes, you might feel like giving up and sometimes, you might feel like flourishing. It’s all part of the balance, I suppose. As hard as it can be to get through the times where it’s dark and you’re unsure, sometimes, all it takes is simply looking up to see the light.

What do you just gotta do sometimes?

gotta call in sick, watch all the trashy shows i missed online, eat the peanut butter and honey out of the jar, read blogs at work, gotta give up, move up, look up, skip running, run longer, mess around with artsy makeup just to go to the grocery store, have pretend conversations with an ex to my bedroom mirror, dance like Ellen, laugh with Ellen, take my lunch break to visit the puppies at the pet store, dream about far away vacations with a blogger bestie, book vacations, come home far too late, have an extra piece of pizza, head to bed far too early, smile at a stranger, pop my headphones in and strut down the street like a goddamn model.

    Caitlyn,

Sometimes, I’ve just gotta tell a blogger when they’ve seriously struck a chord in me–and this post definitely does the trick! Awesome post. We need to be reminded of the ever-changing ebb & flow of life, and you’ve done this so beautifully through your photos and your words. It makes me want to take true pleasure in the “little things”, so thanks for the inspiration :)

  • Kaitlyn says:

Oh and ps–apologies for misspelling your name, Caitlin! As a fellow Kaitlyn, I understand there’s about 458, 612 different ways to spell the name, and it’s frustrating when people get it wrong… haha.

Just gotta say for like the eight millionth time that I heart you big time. Sorry that wasn’t more eloquent.

  • Summah says:

You look gorge in that photo!

It’s nice to drop out sometimes :)

  • lizalopoli says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one that just hits “mark all as read” when I feel overwhelmed.

  • Kat says:

Lady, I love that I’m not the only one who’s just said “enough is enough” to my Google Reader.

Way to take care of yourself – everyone needs to take some time off, it’s just hard to say enough is enough.

  • Danielle says:

Sometimes I gotta let my mind and body relax and realize that having nothing to do can be a good thing and I deserve the break. Otherwise, I’d just go a little stir-crazy and feel purposeless. Remind me about that first sentence when the second one happens, okay? :)

I hope all is well with you too, darling, and I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself accordingly.

I think you are inside my brain slash my psychologist…every time you write a post like this it is EXACTLY what I need to read.

P.S. Sometimes I need to eat an entire box of velveeta mac n cheese WITH the fake cheese, watch One Tree Hill even though I know the acting is awful, eat chocolate for breakfast (this is more like OFTEN than sometimes)

  • Love!
Dare I say quit my job? Hahah. My life is so completely different right now that I have NO idea what I have to do.

  • I’ve had google reader moments like that, too.

Because sometimes all I want to do is creep on facebook all night…

    … wait. what? :p

  • lindsay says:

oh that is freeing! Sometimes, you gotta disconnect in order to reconnect with yourself. :)

  • I feel like this post sums up my life. I love the pictures :) all of them. You’re such a beauty Caitlin, not just outwardly, but on the inside as well. You shine!

  • lisaou11 says:
